Yeah, it didn’t get any consequences and that’s actually annoyed a lot of fans. The “rape” topic has been debated for a long time now, and what’s weird is that for some reason this year I keep seeing it brought up a lot lately, I think most of the debating has come from confession blogs. So it’s definitely not forgotten, which is good. Lol, I wouldn’t say he’s bland as paper now, but he totally owned the first season. I noticed that Damon opinions from fans are sort of split up like this:

1. season one Damon was better
2. season one Damon was not the real Damon
3. Everyone excuses Stefan but not Damon
4. Everyone excuses Damon but not Stefan
5. “he wouldn’t be your favorite if he wasn’t hot”
6. The fans who have completely gotten over with him after one or more of these 4 things: killing Jeremy, abusing Caroline, killing Abby, “I will gladly let Bonnie die” there’s clearly more reasons though.

For me personally, I can’t just sit and criticize one vampire without considering what the other ones have done. Although I’m not sure who your favorites are, but I do love Damon as much as the rest of them. I do believe, he gets a bit singled out on the show more whenever he does something wrong, and with Stefan it’s usually patched up and forgiven more easily. Stefan had friends whether he was a Ripper or Bunny eater, Damon barely had friends no matter which side he turned to. The thing is, I’m never going to prefer one brother over the other. I just love them both equally
